I was struck today by just how amazing the endings of each episode have been – and how they perfectly encapsulate the progression of Matthew & Diana’s relationship.

Episode 1:

Matthew is craving Diana. She is scared of him, but still intrigued…

Episode 2:

Matthew has learnt to control his craving. She is attracted to him, if her swooning reaction to this kiss is anything to go by!

Episode 3:

They flee Oxford together after kissing, holding hands in a symbol of their new united partnership

Episode 4:

Matthew rejects Diana in an attempt to save her from the congregation (but that little pause before he gets in the car shows how much it hurt him to do so)

She is devastated…and calls the witchwater!!

I can’t wait to see how episode 5 ends! But I’ll be gutted when the season is over!

We’re not going to break the covenant. You’re giving in? Domenico’s visit was a diplomatic mission, the next one will not be. Even if we stood up to them, what then? Hmm? We’d be opening up old animosities that would spiral out of control and expose us to humans. I won’t let that happen.
