the most important thing she said here is,” It’s true the economy is booming, it’s just not booming for you.”  all the numbers the republicans like throwing out about employment, etc, are technically accurate but they tell a VERY incomplete story.  the fact of the matter is that it doesn’t matter if the percentage of unemployed people is at ‘historic lows’ when we live in an economy where having a job by no means ensures you can even pay your bills, much less better your position in life.  while having a part time job in service or retail technically makes you employed, it doesn’t mean you can feed and house yourself adequately. we need a new metric for judging the economy that goes way past how many people are technically employed 

also, I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it until I’m blue in the face: the idea that it’s normal or even okay for a person to need to work 2 or 3 or 4 jobs to make ends meet is not a reasonable expectation and we non-one percenters need to stop treating it like it is.  stop passing around that ‘heartwarming’ story of a man who worked 3 jobs to buy his daughter a prom dress or the guy who walked miles to work and home every day bc he couldn’t afford adequate transportation. those things aren’t heartwarming, they’re fucked up examples of the exploitation of american workers and shouldn’t be normalized
