theory: tony sold avengers tower in spiderman: homecoming because he realised at some point between civil war and homecoming that the avengers weren’t what he thought they would be, what he’d hoped they be, and decided it was finally time to move on.

the tower’s whole purpose (ignoring whatever else happened in every other floor that wasn’t built for the avengers) was to house the team, and from what we know, it was never used for that purpose. the compound – the military base tony built – was used to probably full capacity, but the tower, which he designed himself and represented home and family, never was.

this doesn’t mean he’s moved on from the avengers (or from his teammates). we know from homecoming that he’d designed steve a new shield, and he offered peter a position in the avengers. it just means that tony no longer sees the avengers the way he did from avengers through to civil war. he no longer has the hope that they’ll live together in his tower as a tight knit family who fight evil together.

i think he’s honestly better off for it, because the avengers (regardless of whether it was because of bad writing or whatever) were never going to be like the avengers in 616 or even AA, (but this post isn’t about that). tony in homecoming and infinity war was shown to be the most stable we’ve ever seen him, and i think that this revelation has played a pretty big part in it. he can finally stop placing himself at unrealistic standards now. and you know what? he’s building his own family. that conversation with pepper? the ‘i rly rly want a baby pepper pls’ conversation, his relationship with peter, everything is showing tony to now be actively moving forward with his life.

*kid presenting meme* Iron Man 3 was a good movie you’re all just unnerved by the plot twist because it revealed that the white American mastermind was behind the whole terrorist ploy instead of just painting muslims as the stereotypical bad guy terrorist

Point but did we have to have Tony dump out his entire trauma on us, and that little boy, to get there? 😐

You mean addressing his ptsd and acknowledging that a hero can suffer from trauma and anxiety? why is that a bad thing?

Y’all: We want more mental issues to be depicted on screen !1!1!1!1!

Also y’all: Not like that…. just in nice non symptom showing ways

Ex fucking cuse me. Dump his trauma on us?? Bitch what the fuck???????????? How is Tony having anxiety “dumping his trauma” on us? He has anxiety in the MOVIE for gods sake.

And you have the nerve to talk about the kid? Look, I love Harley, but there was a reason I didn’t like him at the start and that was because he REPEATEDLY KEPT ASKING TONY ABOUT NEW YORK EVEN WHEN TONY HAD SEVERAL TIMES ASKED HIM NOT TO, WHICH LED TO HIM HAVING AN ANXIETY ATTACK, WHICH HE CALMED DOWN FROM IN A LITTLE WHILE BY IMMEDIATELY GETTING TO WORK

Jesus Christ y’all act like he personally broke into your house, chained you to a chair and made you listen to what he has to say
